Richon Wright is a junior Behavioral Science major with a concentration in Anthropology from Baltimore, MD and the President of the Sigma Nu Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated. Richon first got involved with the sorority by expressing interest her first semester at YCP. In addition to serving as chapter president and actively volunteering within the community, Richon has been on the Dean’s List every semester.
One of the many traditions of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is stepping and strolling. Richon stated that, “Stepping and strolling are tradition to all of the National Pan-Hellenic Council sororities and fraternities. To us, it is an expression of pride in your organization.”
Richon’s experience in Sigma Gamma Rho has impacted her time at York College because it continues to teach her discipline, time-management, and organization. Especially since since she is the President, she notes that she has to make sure that she has everything in order to make sure her chapter is successful. The responsibility that comes with being the President provides her with vauable life lessons.
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was founded on November 12, 1922 at Butler University with the motto of “Greater Service, Greater Progress.” In honor of their upcoming Founder’s Day, the chapter is hosting a variety of events on campus this week to celebrate.
