Chris Samayoa is a sophomore double majoring in Political Science and International Relations. He is from the Beta Alpha Chi chapter of Zeta Beta Tau and a new Resident Assistant (RA) for Manor North. He is also a First Year Seminar Fellow, the Vice President for the Pre-law Society, and a member of the YCP Roadcrew.
Luis Samayoa, Chris’ older brother, is a senior Political Science major and the President of the Beta Alpha Chi Chapter of Zeta Beta Tau at York College of PA. In addition to Greek Life, Luis is also on the Pre-Law Society executive board.
Chris at first was skeptical about Greek Life. Once he met the brothers of ZBT he said his mind completely changed. The brothers were able to explain the lifelong benefits, as well as the leadership opportunities that come to members of Greek Life. Chris says, “Greek Life at YCP is one of the best places to meet new people and foster friendships that last for years to come.”
Luis agrees with his brother when it comes to meeting new friends through Greek Life. He states, “Being in Greek life here at YCP has had a great impact on my college experience thus far. Being able to network not only with my chapters’ alumni, but brothers of other fraternities and their alumni, has expanded my opportunities to achieve my goal of going to law school and what ever I have beyond that. Having a family away from home is always comforting, not only for when you’re feeling down, but when you want to express your successes as well.”
Chris is a Resident Assistant at YCP. After becoming a part of the Greek Life community, he found that many of his fellow RAs are also in Greek Life. He says that he enjoys being on staff with other fellow Greeks and Chris says, “It’s a good being able to talk to people on my staff about things that are going on with our own chapters or other chapters’.”
Chris values being in the same fraternity with his biological brother. He states, “Being a legacy of ZBT is important and it makes my brother and I feel good knowing that we have such a great network of men that we call brothers to support us!”
Luis says, “Being in the same fraternity as my brother has been another life changing experience that I am happy to go through. Being able to call him a brother, socially and literally is quite the opportunity. Being two years older, I would always go home and tell him about my adventures and experiences that I had with the brothers of ZBT and now he can finally experience them on his own.”
These two brothers have found that being brothers both biologically and fraternally has created a lasting impact that they will never forget.
